CLAN GATHERING
A clan gathering will be arranged for the installation of the plaque,
and the interment of the ashes of Donald Collin MacDonald, a native
Gaelic speaker from Lochaber - c1901 - 1977, father of the present
Chief Ranald Alasdair MacDonald. His ashes will be interred in the
family lair in Cille Choirill. Our ancestors are lying at peace
within that sacred burial place, where they have been interred from
time immemorial. The last members of the Chief's direct family to
be buried there, were his great grandfather Alasdair Raonuill and
his wife Margaret Cameron of Liandalaidh Lochaber, a major cadet
of the Lochiel blood line. The Cameron Highlanders were raised on
the joining of Clan Ranald of Lochaber and Clan Cameron, and their
kilt is a mixture of both tartans.
Sir Crispin Agnew of
Lochnaw BT, Q.C. who gave loyal and sterling support over many long
years to your Chief, and who brought the matter to a successful
conclusion in the Court of Session and Court of the Lord Lyon in
January 2004, will present your Chief with his Ensigns Armorial
in Lochaber and the date and time will be announced on this site.
